Additional Notes
Parking 🅿️
Street parking is free and available all around the building.
Shoes-off 🚫👟
LMRM is a shoes-off studio. We ask that you remove your shoes upon entering the studio, and encourage you to bring your own indoor slippers for additional comfort. Alternatively, we also provide a limited number of shoe coverings and foam slippers to wear.
Restroom 🚻
The closest restrooms are located at the end of the hallway directly in front of LMRM. Please wear your shoes when leaving the studio to go outside, get water, or use the restroom!
Food / Drink 🍽️🥤
A slop sink for washing dishes is located next to the restroom. There is one water fountain on the second floor and it is located inside of Latitude, our neighboring studio. Ask us to show you were it is to refill your water bottle! You can eat and drink in the shared break room with Latitude, or at the stainless steel work tables in LMRM. Please just keep your food and beverages away from the looms and computer table!
Photography 📷
LMRM takes photos to capture our programs for future marketing, recaps, or presentations. By signing up for our in-person programs, please note you will also be entering a space where you may be photographed and these photographs may be used for LMRM's promotional materials.

What to expect
We’re thrilled you’re weaving with us in the studio! Here’s some reminders about your independent rental session.
Check In
At the beginning of each rental period, renters are required to tie the warp onto the apron rod themselves. This helps each renter familiarize themselves with the loom and warp status and set the stage for their weaving session.
Within the first hour, LMRM staff will get you oriented in the studio and set up on the loom.
During this time, staff will refresh you on:
Where everything is.
Standard approaches to navigating the loom software.
Current status of the loom.
Tips on using various loom accessories such as the end-feed shuttle or temple.
We will cover what looks, sounds, and feels “normal” so that you are confident using the tools during your time with us.
Please allocate 1-2 hours of the beginning of your rental session toward getting settled in, yarn management, tying on, and adjusting the loom and its software to your weaving needs.
Don’t underestimate this part! Set up takes the time it takes and is an inherent part of the weaving process : )
Remember, the benefit of working on a computer-assisted loom is NOT to weave fast (trust us, it is certainly not fast), but to help you take complex ideas to the loom faster. The TC2 enables you to experiment with maximum control and the flexibility to make changes instantly - lean in!
Staff Assistance
We strive to provide clear and simple instructions so all our weavers, regardless of experience, feel capable of solving questions at the loom.
If something doesn’t look, sound, or feel “normal,” please don’t hesitate to check in with staff. It is better for us to take preventative measures that would improve your weaving experience or protect the integrity of the warp or loom before it compounds into a larger problem.
Common things we assist with:
Showing you how to best wind pirns and calibrate the end feed shuttle.
Helping users navigate functions in the software.
Showing you how to fix a broken thread. Please make sure to fix snapped warp ends asap - if you need extra demonstration on how to fix them, ask us! Especially do NOT leave broken selvedge threads.
Showing you an easy solution to a file or weaving problem that can be diagnosed under 5 minutes.
What is excessive assistance:
LMRM staff are not artistically responsible for what renters produce during sessions. Sometimes failure is part of the process! As uncomfortable as it might be, at LMRM we encourage you to take the time to explore making something you might not “like” immediately.
LMRM staff are also not on call to teach or troubleshoot your file design during your independent weaving session.
However, we do provide consultations with an hourly rate of $100/hr. If you anticipate needing this additional support during your rental for either file design, artistic critique, or weaving demonstrations, we are happy to explore this with you. We especially love if you let us know with your booking request so we can schedule it in advance and keep it within your budget!
Check Out
Please keep in mind that 1 hour before the end of the final session, staff will initiate the check out process. Check out includes project cut-off, final payments, and clean up. Use this time to ensure that the loom is ready to be turned over to the next weaver.
We will set the count-down timer so that you have 30 minutes to arrive at a stopping point. Being ready to cut off means you have woven the last pick needed to secure your work when it is cut from the loom. Renters are expected to fix all broken warp ends prior to cut off.
30 minutes before the end of your session, staff will demonstrate cut off and help you unroll your work from the fabric beam. We will measure the exact length of material you used, which will inform the final material fee.
Once we settle final balances, please use the remainder of your time to reset the work space as a courtesy for the next renter.
This includes:
Deleting your files off our public computer
Using the wet wipes supplied in your loom cart to disinfect high touch areas
Unwinding excess yarn left on your pirns
Packing up your supplies.
This should be completed by the end of your session; help us all leave work on time! We would really like to avoid charging our $100 overtime fee if staff have to stay past the end of your session because of any delays.
Thank you! : )
