TC2 2W Open Weaving Time - Dec 13

$50.00

Saturday, Dec 13, 10-6pm

Sold as 1 hr slots per ticket.

Location: LMRM
2003 W Fulton St, Studio #215, Chicago, IL 60612

Want to weave at our loom but not ready to commit for a whole independent rental?

Join us for 1 hour weaving slots to familiarize yourself with the TC2 loom, experiment with our current warp offering, or simply just to play around with some new file ideas!

We are hosting a day of open weaving time for people to weave back to back. Sign up for one (or more!) of the 7 different weaving slots of dedicated 50 mins for individual weaving. 10 minutes will be dedicated to turning over the loom between weavers (i.e. weaving a few inches of plain weave in between each slot). At 5pm, we will cut off all the weavings made during the day and spend the final hour for folks to cut their separate sections of the warp to take home. Staying until the end is not required - you may leave and come back before 6pm or schedule a pick up at a later date.

We welcome to you to arrive earlier or stick around after your session!
What to do when you are not weaving during your slot:

  • Play around with files you’d like to test or confab with other weavers in the studio for the day!

  • Co-work in our studio. Sign up for slots with a friend and work through ideas together back and forth!

  • We have a small artist books / textile art library in the lounge area. Check them out!

In order to attend open weaving time, you must be authorized prior to your slot. LMRM staff will facilitate loom authorization on Friday, the evening before open weaving day for those who want to hop in on a weaving spot!

Please note the current warp on the TC2 2W: This cycle’s warp is split across two warp beams. Warp A will feature a 20/2 cotton warp with alternating stripes of bleach and natural cotton across the width (30 epi, 880 ends total, 28 inches wide). Warp B will feature a 20/2 wool warp with alternating stripes of light rose pink and a deeper apricot pink across the width (30 epi, 880 ends total, 28 inches wide). It does not have to be woven as double cloth - woven as single cloth would mean a warp with alternating cotton and wool warp ends. See here for a 100 pixel tall warp simulation image.

Materials:
Please bring your own weft yarns and computer for making adjustments to your files.
Amount of warp used will not be an additional charge - weave with unabashed freedom during your slot!

No refunds are available for cancellations or no-shows. Review our cancellation & refund policy, privacy policy, and media release policy here.
