Join us for a 2-day Workshop!
Location: 2003 W Fulton St, Studio #215, Chicago, IL 60612
Saturday July 11, 10pm-1pm | Workshop Part 1
Engaging the Weft: Ikat & Painting
led by Janice Lessman-Moss
This workshop will consider how to add character or visual complexity to your weaving through weft coloration and placement. Using ikat resist dye techniques and/or painted weft will enable you to create distinctive pattern, color, atmosphere, in your weaving. These weaver-controlled techniques reveal the touch of the hand, a meaningful contrast to the loom controlled mechanical clarity of the weave structures.
After learning how to prepare wefts, participants will have an opportunity to weave and experience the focused weft insertion on the TC2 loom. The remainder of the workshop will include time for participants to dye their own weft yarns to take home.
Saturday July 11, 1-4pm | TC2 Loom Authorization and Open Dye Time
TC2 Loom Authorization
led by LMRM Staff
Your workshop ticket also includes TC2 loom authorization at no additional cost, which will allow you to rent either of LMRM’s TC2 loom for independent projects outside of this workshop. If you are already authorized, you may opt of out this and spend the rest of the workshop continuing to work on dyeing your wefts!

Sunday July 12, 10-1pm | Workshop Part 2
Engaging the Weft: Ikat & Painting Variations
led by Janice Lessman-Moss
We will continue to explore alternate ways to paint with simple shapes and images for greater variety in developing weft character. Building on the processes from Day 1, Janice will continue to explore ways to align and shift painted weft threads at the loom.
Sunday July 12, 1-4pm | Open Weave and Dye Time
Open Weave and Dye Time
led by Janice Lessman-Moss and LMRM Staff
